1 venue - 8 days - 4 themes - 30 session - 50 speakers - 372 coffees + 700 participants

Over 700 people were part of 2017 The DIF showcase @ Hub Melbourne. The CBD home of the Digital Innovation Festival was iconic building opposite Southern Cross. The series was co-created with Hub Members Marketing Entourage and Impactful Ventures after an open call for speakers to share their passion for all things digital. These DIF Champions helped curate over 30 events across four streams. Startups, social entrepreneurs, public and private sector organisations all shared their perspectives. Each day had a theme from investing in ideas and people, the good and bad of disruption, diversity + inclusion = opportunity and the final day looking at the future of digital health. The casual format provided a unique opportunity for people to connect and explore in meaningful ways how technology is making a difference in Melbourne and the world.

Entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of the digital economy and were likewise front and centre of the Festival once again. LaunchVic hosted their inaugural YeahNah Summit to hear from the pioneers that strive to make a lasting impact on the digital technology ecosystem. Entrepreneurs&Co. lead the Inspiring Entrepreneurs evenings at The DIF @ Hub from social tech entrepreneurs to startups for 50 there was a great buzz each night. Finally, Cyan and Collis Ta’eed were recognised as the 2017 Victorian Pearcey Entrepreneur of the Year and will go on to represent the state at the national awards in November in Sydney. (PS they won).

I'm so happy I found my tribe.

I made so many meaningful connections.

I cleared the whole week so I could attend

Community is of central importance to the Festival. The DIF @ Hub Frequent Flying Flamingoes were fueled not only by the flow of coffee from the Hub Cafe but the ideas that were shared by audience and speakers alike. Their contribution was part of the #DIFvic magic. The connections have just begun and Australia 3.0 and the Pearcey Institute will post various MindHive challenges to continue the conversations towards future action. Who knows what partnerships, solutions or future collaboration may evolve. It all makes Melbourne not only Australia's top tech city but a unique ecosystem that embraces innovation to make a difference.
